Hello, this is Dr. Hong, and this is  the most frequent question my patients asked about. 

"Why my weight after liposuction is the same?"

Patient: "My weight before surgery 58kg (127.8 pounds), I had liposuction on my tummy and tights about 3200cc was removed according to my medical record. However 1week after the day after surgery I weighed 800g more than before. Why I weight after liposuction  even more?"

I'll try to answer this question briefly. The first thing we need to know is the density of water and the density of fat. The density of fat is 0.9 and the density of water is 1. Here, if you actually lose 1000cc of fat, you will lose 900g, or 0.9kg. If you lose 3000cc of fat, you should lose 2.7kg, right?

However, first several months after the surgery, it is the time when tissues recovers along with swelling (water retention), so even plant of the fat was suctioned, to see weight changes it takes up to 3 months.
